Mrs. Susannah Mostyn's family album, 1854-57
Album of 88 salt/lightly-albumenised and 2 albumen prints.
Varying sizes from 2 3/8 x 1 7/8in. (6 x 4.8cm.) to 6¼ x 4½in. (15.8 x 11.2cm.) or reverse. Majority credited and captioned with sitters' names and a few dated in ink or pencil, including 'Mrs. Mostyn' (39), 'Ch. Templemore' (2), 'John Broadhurst' (1), 'Francis Currey' (1), 'Reverend W. Bryans' (1) and 'Villiers' (1). Majority mounted 2-per-page. Inscribed 'Mr. Townshend, May 1855' in ink, frontispiece of Mrs. Mostyn by Rev. Bryans and printed text label on front pastedown. Purple half leather, gilt, 'Photographs' in gilt on spine.

Susannah Mostyn, née Townshend, was the wife of Henry Meredith Mostyn, the son of John Meredith Mostyn and Cecilia Margaret Thrale. Susannah Mostyn was a tenant of the Segrwyd Estate from 1830 to around 1880. In the family album, a portrait of Mrs. Mostyn taken in 1854 is mounted together on a page with an outdoor view of Segrwyd. The current owner of the album has lived there since 1922.
