(22.4 x 32.2cm.) or reverse. 20 credited 'D.Diyal' or initialled 'D.D.' and 24 numbered in negatives; each captioned and sequentially numbered, majority dated, 26 credited in later hand, all in ink on mounts. 'Bath Academy Reference Library' bookplate on front pastedown. Blue half leather, g.e.

Lot Essay

Nepalese group portraits include "Gureng Llamas", "Newar Agriculturists", "Newar Women Weaving", "Newar Stone & Wood Carvers", "Bhutrapanese [aboriginal people], Extreme North of Nepal", "Nepalese [...] with Rhinocerous Heads" (illus.) and four other images with elephants. Architectural views, including temples and palaces, landscapes and sites in and around Katmandu.

Also unusual Calcutta images of men with performing bears, goat and monkey and a group study of "coolies" holding large baskets.
