the lustre ground painted with leafy motifs around the figures of two adorsed birds flanking a cypress tree, in a border of naskh inscription between stripes -- 8¼in. (20.8cm.) across.

Lot Essay

The inscription is composed of different tiles and a date fi sana 697 (1297-8) which may be a later addition, or from a different tile.
