Lot Essay

The fifth and sixth sons of Vittorio Amedeo III, King of Sardinia and his wife, Maria Antonietta Ferdinanda, youngest daughter of Felipe V, King of Spain, Carlo Felice succeeded his brother King Vittorio Emanuele I after a revolt in Piedmont on 13 March 1821. Prince Giuseppe, Count of Moriana assumed the title of Count of Asti in 1796 and Duke of Aosta in 1802. He died unmarried at Sassari, Sardinia where he is buried.
