Geneva, circa 1780/1800, maker's mark 'S' a coronet above
Oval box, the cover, sides and base engine-turned with panels of horizontal fine reeding engraved with scrolling foliage and berries, the lid centred by an octagonal frosted gold reserve chased in four-colour gold with a pair of doves holding a laurel crown and hovering over an altar of love with a mask and a dog in a landscape, framed by a ribbon-twist border, the base centred by an engine-turned coin pattern circle enclosing an engraved basket of flowers, the sablé gold borders stamped with trailing foliage, scrolls and quatrefoils
