Neuchâtel, circa 1820/1830, partly rubbed marks including maker's mark 'GT', struck with inventory no. 2230
Rectangular box with convex sides, the cover inset with a rectangular enamel miniature of a mountainous landscape lake scene with ships and figures in the foreground, the oyster-pink opalescent sky enamelled on an engine-turned sunset gold ground, within a narrow gold frame with blue enamel fillet, within outer two-colour gold leaf and pellet border, the matted gold sides applied with three-colour gold foliage, the base engine-turned with a pattern of floating lozenges within fluted and acanthus borders, slightly raised blank thumbpiece
