A GERMAN FOUR-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX
by Charles Colins Sons (fl. c. 1825 - after 1870), marked, Hanau, circa 1825
Retangular box with waisted sides, the cover and base with panels of peaked engine-turning simulating reptile's skin, within reeded borders, the raised broad sablé borders cast with mirrored scrolls, flowers and foliage in four-colour gold, the waisted sides with polished gold flutes, and flowers on matted ground at the corners, feathered and scalloped thumbpiece, the inside of the lid engraved with two crests with mottoes and with inscription 'PRESENTED to Capt.n W. H. Webley Parry C.B. K.S. by the Wardroom Officers of H. M. S. PRINCE REGENT, as a mark of their esteem and respect December 15t.h. 1825'
