Cartouche-shaped box, the lid set with an oval medallion enamelled in translucent blue on a radiating engine-turned ground and applied with old-mine cut diamond set scrolling initial 'A II' an Imperial Russian crown above for Alexander II (1818-1881), Russian Tsar 1855-1881, framed by a border of old-mine cut diamonds, flanked by six silver-collet mounted large old-mine cut diamonds surrounded by cast gold scrolls, the base and wavy baluster sides engraved with rocaille and foliate scrolls on a frosted ground, raised rosette and scroll thumbpiece; original hinged blue plush case
