The paneled D-shaped truncated pyramid with panels alternately painted with flower sprays or piereced and gilt with foliate strapwork, flower sprays along the base, the back undecorated, the tope with a central apeture and painted with flowers

Given the proportions of the present stand and the fact that the back is completely undecorated, it was likely intended as the base to a figure of Christ on a cross to be placed on a small altar or in a niche. The flower painting and palette is not dissimilar to that of the Nymphenburg factory.
