Each in the form of a spread-winged dragon seated atop a scroll-form base cast with trailing foliage, raised on leafy scroll-form feet, one with inscribed leather label 2810, fixing bolts to secure dragon to base repositioned

Lot Essay

With their spread-winged dragons, these chenets are related to designs by the sculptor and designer Nicolas Pineau (1684-1754), and specifically here to a drawing of a similarly-rendered wall-light in the Kunstbibliothek, Berlin and published in H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. I, Munich, 1986, p. 66, fig. 1.9.19.
