Like John Constable 150 years earlier, Munnings was fascinated with the changing effects of nature and the fluctuating shadows as they danced across the landscape. In fact, many of Munnings's landscapes are really cloud studies. Here Munnings balances the outlines of the tree-tops with the undulating cloud forms.
