LATE 19 CENTURY, BLACK SHIELD MARK AND TITLE SABINENRAUL. TO REVERSE, IMPRESSED K.P.M., SCEPTRE MARK, NUMERALS AND INCISED LETTERS
After P.P.Rubens, bodly painted with Castor and Pollux on horseback, one wearing a vibrant red cape and a curiass and the other scantily-draped in robes, the naked Sabine women gesturing in fear as they are carried-off, a putto riding each horse, within landscape, signed Walther. to the bottom right, within an acanthus-scroll and beeded giltwood frame backed on red velvet (very light surface scratching and minor losses to enamels)
