The design for this model of candlestick has traditionally been attributed to the architect Jean-Démosthène Dugourc (1749-1825) on the basis of a drawing now held in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris (GF 21 no. 38.378).

Originally at the James B. Duke House, 1 East 78th Street, New York.
