Jean-Eugéne Clary was a student of M.C. de Coock. He began exhibiting his work in the Salon of 1878. Clary painted mostly landscapes in the style of the French Impressionists with soft pastel colours. He exhibited at the Salon of the Sociètè Nationale des Beaux-Arts and in the Salon des Artistes Francais. In 1883 and 1890 he was commended and in 1900 he received a bronze medal.
