NELSON -- THE LAST DEPARTURE, 1805
Nelson arrives at Portsmouth this morning at 6 o'clock (Sept 14) announced by the ringing of bells -- a great number of people were soon assembled despite the early hour. Breakfasted at the George Inn, visited Admiral Sir Isaac Coffin and our Commissioner Sir Chas. Sexton and embarked at one o'clock. G. Rose Esq. and G Canning accompanied him and dined on board after which these gentlemen proceeded to Southampton in the Commissioners yacht. (Sept 15) sailed this morning his Majesty's ships Victory and Euryalus: the former bearing Lord Nelson's flag who is going to take the Command off Cadiz Page 3 col. 2 -- 7cm. of col. space in a complete issue of THE STAR (LONDON) dated 16 September 1805
