A WELL-DETAILED 1:48 SCALE UNRIGGED SEMI-PLANKED WOOD AND METAL MODEL OF H.M.S. BEAGLE AS DEPICTED AFTER HER REFIT PRIOR TO CHARLES DARWIN'S VOYAGE OF OBSERVATION IN 1831
modelled by M.C. Puttock in lime, walnut and ebony with details including cut-away bound masts, fiddle-end prow, catheads, belaying rails and pins, brass carronade on circular track, stove pipe, belfry, companionways, winches, bilge pumps, compass box, helm, azimuth compass, deep sea sounding winch,decklights and other details. The hull with semi-planked main deck, is un-planked under the main wale and mounted by two turned wood columns with in plexi-glass display case. Overall measurements -- 11½ x 30½in. (29 x 77.5cm.)
