A 19TH CENTURY PICTURE MODEL OF P.S. AMAZON
with masts, yards, rigging, female-form figurehead, simple deck fittings, two stayed funnels with black cotton 'smoke', eight lifeboats in davits and other details. The hull with paddle wheels and ports, is set in a painted cotton seascape within glazed case with sky-painted backing and printed legend reading THE MODEL OF THE ROYAL MAIL STEAM SHIP "AMAZON", which was totally Lost by Fire on the Morning of the 4th of January, 1852 -- By TRIGGS, Maritime Architect. Overall measurements -- 12½ x 25½in. (32 x 65cm.)
