The iron screw steamer Sesostris was built by Harland & Wolff at Belfast in 1865 for the Moss Steamship Co. of Liverpool. Registered at 1,943 tons gross (1,570 net), she measured 322½ feet in length with a 34½ foot beam and was powered by a compound 2-cylinder engine by the North East Marine Engineering Co. of Sunderland. A typical general cargo vessel, her career lasted until about 1900 when she disappears from record.
