ATTRIBUTED TO THE LEAGROS GROUP, CIRCA 520-500 B.C.
The panel on the body with Herakles confronting Kerberos, the hero clad in a short chiton and his lionskin, a quiver suspended on his back, his club over his left shoulder, the beast with two canine heads, one looking forward, one look back, and a long mane along its back, with Hades and Hermes standing beside Kerberos, Hades with long white hair and a beard, wearing a himation, holding a scepter in his left hand, his right hand raised above his head, Hermes barely visible behind Hades, but recognizable by his petasos, the palace of Hades represented by an Ionic portico to the right, within which is Persephone seated on a chair, clad in a himation and a cylindrical polos, holding a blossom in her right hand, with Herakles' guardian Athena seated to the left, clad in her peplos and aegis, armed with a crested helmet and spear, holding a blossom in her left hand, the panel framed on either side by double bands of ivy, and a band of palmettes below; the shoulders with four warriors armed with shields and spears walking to the right beside their horses and accompanied by their dogs, each carrying two spears, a band of alternating red and black tongues above; with rays above the foot
