A GREEK BRONZE GOAT
ARCHAIC PERIOD, CIRCA 550-530 B.C.
Originally attached to the rim of a vessel, the hollow figure depicted recumbent, the forelegs projecting forward and folded under, the head turned sharply to its right, with a spade-shaped beard, grooved mouth, triangular ears and backward-curving splayed horns, with some details enhanced by incision, a perforation at the rump and below the tail for attachment
