They were sold through quality outlets such as Hamleys of London. He joined the Imperial War Museum in 1950, moving to the National Army Museum in 1965, retiring as Deputy Director in 1974. Even in retirement he was a prolific writer on military matters, as well as being a keen member of militaria societies and a much-respected enthusiast who generously spread his knowledge far and wide.
