A fine Lambert automaton of a lady,
with unmarked Jumeau bisque lady head, straight neck, closed mouth, heavy brows, blue paperweight eyes, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig on cork pate, bisque hands and shoulder-plate, sitting cross-legged on velvet-covered base with going-barrel movement playing two airs and causing the figure to lift a lorgnette in one hand and fan herself with the other while looking from side to side, inclining her head and crossing her legs, in the original figured silk bodice trimmed with silk-floss at the neckline, pleated pink satin skirt overlaid with black lace, matching mantilla and satin slippers -- 19in. (49cm.) high, (left eye cracked, silk fragile in skirt and sleeves, fan damaged), with LB key and label of Au Nain Bleu, E. Chauvière, Bout des Capucines, 27, Paris, under glass dome.
