The letter reads 'My Dear Harriet ?, I met with a young lady today, in one of the Refuges for the Destitute, who entrusted me to find her a home, and thinking she might be a nice companion for my God daughters, I took compassion on her, and as she has promised to be very quiet & make no row, I hope you will not object to give her an asylum under your roof, yours sincerely C Poll?ite ?' dated 1854 in another hand.
