SPIRITUALISM: CONAN DOYLE'S TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND
An Address from the 'National Association of Spiritualist Churches of New Zealand', to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, M.D., L.L.D, Auckland, New Zealand, March 27, 1921, signed by the President, Treasurer and Secretary. 2 leaves mounted on card, 360 x 300mm, the address written in manuscript in a gothic hand, decorated in watercolour and gold, within border of maori motifs incorporating 8 landscape vignettes in blue and white, by W.R. Bock, Wellington. Bound in dark green morocco, the upper cover titled in gilt, with elaborate gilt-stamped turn-ins, metal clasps (some light wear to extremities).
An appreciation of Conan Doyle's 'indomitable courage and devotion to the cause', shown in his visits to both Australia and New Zealand, lecturing single-handedly on a 'subject so misunderstood', and giving 'substantial truth to the movement'.
