A ROMAN "SNAIL-FORM" GLASS VESSEL
CIRCA 2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.
Pale yellow-green in color, with an ovoid body, on an applied disk base with tooled knobby extensions, the funnel-shaped mouth with the lip in-folded, with two opposing separately-made tubular extensions, both open into the interior, one tooled to resemble the head of a snail, with two projecting antennae and a conical spout, an applied trail around the neck, the other serving as the handle, curved to resemble a tail terminating in a flattened semicircular flange
