Tasting note: A basic cuvée from this renowned vintage has sometimes been available from the Domaine, but never, in living memory, such a opportunity as this for enthusiasts to acquire this legendary 1ère Trie. It is rich amber, with tawny at the rim, the nose being superb, with a touch of high-toned acidity and a note of verbena. Richer and sweeter than the 1945, this is round, supple, fresh and totally spectacular. AH
