Lot Essay

Painted in a very different part of the country to lots 7 and 9 but showing Hunt in similarly quiet and reflective mood. Turner's famous Crossing the Brook (Tate Gallery) may be vaguely comparable in theme, but the fireworks which make lots 5 and 6 so immediately reminiscent of the master are conspicuously absent.
