The Ramayana is an epic Hindu text. Rama, its hero and one of the nine major incarnations of Vishnu, is believed to have been placed earth to conquer Ravana, the king of the demons and embodiment of the world's evils. Rama is typically depicted with his weaponary, the bow and arrow, and through his heroic actions seen to epitomize manhood.
