Lot Essay

The toys Pooh Bear and Kanga and Roo (see lot 87) belonged to the daughter of a friend of Lowry's. Lowry was invited to stay one Christmas and on his departure the toys were found in Lowry's room, he had used them as the models for the present work and the drawing (see lot 87).
