Lot Essay

David Fraser Jenkins comments on the present work, 'The red flowers of Anemones in a Yellow Jug are similarly reduced in detail for the sake of a larger impact, appearing to hover over the open black cavity of the jug' (Exhibition catalogue, John Piper, London, Waddington Galleries, 1988, p. 6).
