2° (431 x 275mm). 4 double-page engraved maps (one with 2 small stains and repaired tear, 2 with short neat marginal tears), 4 double-page engraved plates by J. Lainsvelt, Villalpandi, Wiikman, engraved frontispiece by Aveelen, engraved portrait of Charles XII, woodcut headpieces, tailpieces, initials. (Occasional spotting and staining, light browning.) Contemporary brown morocco, gilt arms of King Charles XII, clasps embossed with 'XII' and Swedish royal crown (a little rubbed). Provenance: Wallenius family (genealogical notes from 1856-1910). This 'Charles XII Bible', as it was known, became the standard edition of the Swedish bible. Darlow and Moule 8817; and a similarly bound Psalm book (Then Swenska Psalmboken, Stockholm: [1697]); and a 1709 Swedish bible (Darlow and Moule 8818); and another theological work (S. Ancharii... vita gemina, oratione prosa, Stockholm, 1677). (4)
