7 volumes bound in 5, plus plate volume, 4° (244 x 195mm). 244 engraved plates, and engraved opening vignette by Wandelaar mounted on I:Ai. (Some light spotting, marginal tear on leaf Ss2 of volume I.) Contemporary mottled calf, gilt spine with tan and green morocco labels gilt, red edges (slightly rubbed, a little wear at corners). Provenance: Carl Linnaeus, presentation inscription to Mr. Forskähl on title: 'E duodecim exemplaribus a Nobilissimo Authore Praestantissimis Entomologiae alumnis done datis, hoc in Dominum Forskähl derivavit. A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION, one of the twelve copies presented by Linnaeus on behalf of the author, this copy to Mr. Forskähl, the author of Flora of Aegyptiaco-Arabiea, published in 1775. Charles de Geer, Swedish entomologist and natural history collector, was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm and of the Académie des Sciences in Paris. He corresponded with Réaumur, Bonnet and other naturalists and he worked very closely with Linnaeus (1707-1778), the father of taxonomy. BMNH II, 648. (6)
