JOHANSSON, Lars (known as LUCIDOR, 1638-1674). Helicons Blomster, pläckade ok wid ätskillige tillfällen utdelte af Lucidor den Olyklige. Stockholm: Niclas Wankijf, '1688' [not before 26 February 1689].
4° (218 x 165mm). Engraved title vignette, full-page woodcut, numerous text woodcuts and ornaments. (Some browning, light dampstain at upper edge.) Contemporary Swedish blindstamped speckled calf, gilt edges (spine foot repaired); modern marbled paper slipcase. Provenance: Eric Österlund (20th-century bookplate).
FIRST EDITION, WITH QUIRE B, CONTAINING GILLIARE KWAAL UNCANCELLED. One of the most influential Swedish baroque poets, Lucidor was accused in 1669 of writing a poem ('Gilliare kwaal' or 'The Suitor's torments') on the betrothal of Konrad Gyllenstierna without commission by the family. His collected occasional poems, published here posthumously, included the offending poem, but quire B which contained it was confiscated and suppressed before publication early in 1689. The sheet is said to have been reprinted in 1707, but copies even with the reprinted sheet are very rare (C.H. Braad). And another copy, with quire B cancelled (lightly browned). Collijn 426. (2)
