OXENSTJERNA, Johan Gabriel (1750-1818). Arbeten. Stockholm: C. Delén, 1815-1826. 5 volumes, 8° (201 x 115mm). Engraved title with neo-classical ornament by Samuel Andersson (1773-1857). (Light spotting in vol. V). Contemporary half sheep, spines gilt, yellow edges (a little worn and chipped). Provenance: Otton von Feilitzen (inscription on flyleaf -- M. Höjer? (inscribed on pastedown vol. I) -- Tidö Bibliotek (bookplate of the von Schinkel period of ownership). Tidö Castle was owned by the Oxenstiernas from 1609-1759 and thereafter by the von Schinkel family.

(Marginal dampstaining, spotted.) Later half sheep (extremities rubbed, stitching holes from earlier binding visible). Provenance: inscription dated 1824 on pastedown -- Swen Wawrinsky (booklabel, inscribed on title, stamp on endleaf); and another.
Oxenstierna was an aristocratic poet, official, diplomat and member of the Swedish Academy from 1786. He was particulary influential in introducing rural, nature-observing and sentimental themes into Swedish poetry. (7)
