8° (180 x 130mm). Title printed in blue and black. Photogravure frontispiece by Walker & Cockerell after Landseer and 21 half-tone plates after Landseer. Contemporary green morocco Cosway-style binding by Riviere & Son, upper board with nine inset hand-coloured miniatures after Landseer, the central oval miniature after 'The Monarch of the Glen', the others of dogs, lower board with inset hand-painted oval portrait miniature of Landseer after 'The Connoisseur', miniatures all glazed, boards gilt with foliate and floral tools, gilt board-edges and turn-ins, spine gilt in compartments, lettered in two, the others decorated with foliate and floral tools, top edge gilt, slipcase (spine slightly faded). Provenance: H. Sotheran & Co. (bookseller's stamp on front free endpaper).

FIRST EDITION. A FINE COSWAY-STYLE BINDING BY RIVIERE AND SON, decorated with miniatures after some of Landseer's most celebrated images.
