Signed Kiyomitsu, Muromachi Period (16th Century)
The slender blade hira-zukuri, uchizori, iorimune, itamehada, chu-suguha hamon of nioi with a very long kaeri, ubu nakago, signed Bishu Osafune Katsumitsu and dated Eisho 3rd year [1506], nagasa 7 13/16in. (19.8cm.), in its black lacquer saya decorated with cherry blossoms in gold hiramaki-e, fuchi-kashira, kojiri, kurikata, koiguchi and uragawara of iron inlaid in low relief with silver cherry blossoms, gilt details, gilt horse menuki, the kozuka inlaid with plum blossom, 19th century
