Lot Essay

With an accompanying origami [certificate] signed by Goto Mitsutomo and dated Empo 8th year [1680], certifying the ox as the work of the fifth master Goto Tokujo (1550-1631). Goto Mitsutomo (Renjo 1627-1709) was the tenth master. It is possible that the kozuka was remounted by Mitsutomo who then issued the certificate.
