Edo Period (17th Century]
With overhanging, slightly domed lid, black lacquer ground decorated in gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and nashiji depicting floral roundels on swirling waters, the interior nashiji, some old wear and slight cracks; a lacquer sakezuki [sake cup] of typical form, red lacquer ground decorated with gold and black hiramaki-e and takamaki-e, with lead inlay, depicting the moon wrapped in a brocaded cloth, slight lifting to the inlay and lacquer, chip to rim, late 18th Century
