For a different service for a member of this family, see D. S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, vol. II, Chippenham, 2003, p. 729 (unillustrated).

This part service was given as part of a gambling debt to Lord James Stuart (1794-1859) in the early 19th century and by descent to the present owner.
