Titles with engraved vignettes, 63 engraved half-page maps and one engraved full-page map, woodcut diagrams in the text, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces. (Some pale dampstaining in first three gatherings, some light browning and spotting, few stains in last gathering.) Modern brown quarter morocco, uncut.

FIRST EDITION IN ITALIAN of Magini's edition of Ptolemy, translated by Leonard Cernoti. The 63 maps, comprising 27 maps of the Ancient world and 36 modern maps, are identical to those found in the first Magini edition of 1596, printed in Venice by other printers from the same Galignani family. This edition contains the additional map by Girolamo Porro on a separate leaf, the twin-hemisphere Orbis Terrae Compendiosa Descriptio, showing both American continents.
