[FRACKER, George]. A Voyage to South America, with an Account of a Shipwreck in the River La Plata, in the Year 1817. By the Sole Survivor. Boston: Printed by Ingraham and Hewes, 1826.
12o (167 x 106 mm). (4/2-3 with repaired tears crossing text, some light browning and spotting.) Early 20th-century half calf (chip to spine label, front joint lightly rubbed).
The story of a shipwrecked American vessel, Ocean, on the river La Plata in 1817. Includes a detailed account of life in Buenos Aires, Monte Video, Rio de Janeiro, and other smaller South American towns. Fracker writes in the "Preface": "The haste in which the former edition of this little journal was written and sent to the press, produced several errors and omissions, which, in this, I have endeavored to correct and supply." Despite this comment, no earlier edition has been traced, indicating that Fracker's statement may be spurious. Not in Borba de Moraes. Sabin 25412.
