"Everything is quiet in my front this morning. No unusual demonstrations. I have directed Col. Terry to deploy his entire regiment along the breast works with his left resting on Mountain Run." Walker participated in nearly every action of the II Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia. He led a regiment at Second Bull Run, and a brigade at both Antietam and Fredericksburg, was wounded at Antietam, and again at Spottsylvania. After the war, he was one of a few former Confederate generals to join the Republican Party, and served in Congress from 1895-1899.
