A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU AND WHITE MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK
Attributed to Robert Osmond, the movement by Charles-Ceuille Filon, the dial by Etienne Gobin, known as Dubuisson
The circular white-enamelled Roman dial signed 'Filon A Paris' and 'Dubuisson', within an arched case surmounted by a quiver and a flaming torch, within a ribbon-bound laurel wreath, above fluted pilasters and scrolling foliage flanked by fruiting cornucopiae, on a rectangular rounded breakfront plinth mounted with mille-raie panels and floral patterae, on gadrooned feet

Lot Essay

Robert Osmond, maître-fondeur en terre et sable in 1746.
Charles-Ceuille Filon, maître horloger in 1751.
Etienne Gobin, known as Dubuisson, maître emailleur (d. circa 1822).

This model is based on no. 111 in Osmond's Livre de Desseins of 1775, and was described as '...Architecture Colonne Vase (H. Ottomeyer P. Pröschel et. al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986 vol I, p. 228, fig 4.1.7). An example in a French private collection is illustrated in G. Henriot, Bronzes et Bois Sculpté des Collections Privées, n.d. fig. 16.2. A further example was sold, Christie's London, 5 July 1984, lot 20.
