UNDERGLAZE-BLUE YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARKS WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-35)
Each moulded with a band of petal lappets above the short foot rim, below swirling and overlapping mallow-flower petals flaring to a corresponding lobed rim, covered overall in an opaque bright lemon-yellow enamel stopping neatly around the foot rims, the bases glazed white

It is rare to find bowls of this unusual shape. An example with a lime- green glaze in the Victoria and Albert Museum is illustrated by R. Kerr in Chinese Ceramics: Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty, 1644-1911, London, 1986, pl. 66; another example of the same shape and glaze, but slightly larger in size was sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 27 October 2003, lot 703. Compare also a much smaller pair of lemon-yellow cups, sold at Sotheby's New York, 18 September 1988, lot 221; and a similarly moulded cup with trasparent glaze illustrated in The Wonders of the Potter's Palette, Qing Ceramics from the Collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong, 1984, p. 101, no. 58.
