CHAIR FROM "ALL ABOUT EVE" AND "GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES"
20th Century Fox, 1950, 1954
A painted wooden chair upholstered in lime green and beige striped silk that is identical to (or is) the one used as set dressing in two important Marilyn Monroe films; first in "All About Eve" in the Cub Room scene when Celeste Holm, as Karen Richards, agrees to meet Anne Baxter, as Eve Harrington, in the powder room; then in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" in the dining room scene when Marilyn Monroe, as Lorelei Lee, and Jane Russell, as Dorothy Shaw, saunter in and distract the poor violinist who is seen falling off this chair. Fox likely had a few of these chairs which were used in various productions; the bottom of this particular one having handpainted notations reading "20th C-Fox/BR-1-1828R/6-16-42/PSA 2592." Included is a reprinted black and white image of MM and Jane Russell by the chair.
Height: 31 inches
Please note the upholstery is heavily stained and the paint is chipped.
