GRETA GARBO HANDWRITTEN LETTER TO GILBERT ROLAND

A three page letter handwritten in pencil by the actress to the actor when he was serving in the Army. Postmarked "Dec 4, 1943/1:30 PM/New York, N.Y.," this note reads as a 'Dear John' letter to Gilbert; she writes in part "I will be unable to see you for many reasons. Please forgive me but I can not help it. But I am afraid you will have to leave it to fate. Please don't be sad." Included is the original transmittal envelope, also pencilled in Garbo's hand, reading "Lieut. Gilbert Roland/Station Hospital Fortmyer/Virginia 10."
