Lot Essay

LD: In the early '90s, when Eric was on tour... he and Phil Palmer [second guitar player in Clapton's band between 1990-1991], went to a music shop together. Two of these Dobros were purchased, they were both very similar..very Hawaiiany...Phil Palmer had one, and Eric had this one. We've had it in out of the studio, on and off, it's a lovely instrument...But when you have things like, what we call the 'real' Dobros, hanging around, [spruce top pre-war Dobros] Eric tends to lean towards those for recording.
