The letter accompanying this guitar from WNS Group, dated, 19th January, 2004 states ...This guitar is Sonny's favorite of two Firebirds built specifically for him by Gibson and featured exclusively in his performance at the Gibson show during the Anaheim NAMM convention in January 1997. Adding it to his stable of touring guitars that year, Sonny liked playing it on his set closer "Turning Wheel" from his album South Of I-10. In the Summer and Fall of 1999, he occasionally played it on tour with John Hiatt and the Goners on Hiatt classics such as "Drive South" and "Memphis In The Meantime"...

The stage-shot illustrated shows Landreth with a similar guitar at the Beacon Theatre, New York, 1987.
