1978 FERRARI 512 BB
Registration No. BYP 521T
Chassis No. 24775
Engine No. 24775
Red with cream leather interior

Engine: flat-12, twin overhead camshafts to each head, 4,942cc, four triple barrel Weber carburettors, 340 bhp at 6,800 rpm; Gearbox: manual five speed; Suspension: independent by wishbones and coil springs; Brakes: four wheel power assisted hydraulically operated disc. Right hand drive.

With a separate steel chassis fabricated from square and oblong sections, the 512BB was no lightweight, but equally was no mean performer and the standing quarter mile was achievable in just 14.2 secs. The brutally attractive body was by Pininfarina and made largely of steel with fibreglass lower panels. With all its main masses grouped together near the car's centre of gravity to give lower polar moment of inertia, the 512 BB was agile and possessed road clinging powers well beyond the point most owners wished to explore. Well-finished, the 512 BB assured purchasers of the quality and reliability not always found in other supercars, thus the 512 BB became very well regarded indeed..
Presented in Rosso Corsa, this 512 BB shows just 31,157 miles on the odometer. The paintwork is fair but could benefit from detailing in places due to some isolated bubbling and chipping and interestingly so, the rear spoiler and air box covers have been sprayed red as opposed to the factory standard black.
The interior is in original condition and slightly worn but is commensurate with the age of the vehicle and the seats are trimmed with red Daytona inserts to match the red carpets. Notably so a retro-fitted Pioneer stereo from the 1980s is fitted complete with a (then vogue) graphic equaliser.

A sound, original example with low mileage and scope for light improvement.
