Lot Essay

The first watch is accompanied by its orginal Jules Jurgensen Certificate of Origin and setting instructions as well as a wooden Jules Jurgensen fitted presentation box with spare crystals.

The present lot is very interesting in that it contains two watches given by a husband and wife to one another. The minute repeating split-second chronograph pocket watch bears a monogram reading 'CLD' and the minute repeating pendant watch bears the monogram 'LMD'. Both watches feature the French phrase 'Avise La Fin', meaning 'warning of the end' and both monograms are executed in the same style.
The Jules Jurgensen watch has an unusual setting system where, once the hinged back is open, the pendant is bent down to the cuvette in order to release the hands to move them.
